After just caryying a 5 gallon bucket through wet weeds and thorns and getting pricked and soaked, i started thinking about the lengths we go to get bait. Such as... drive to stonelick late at night to "make sure" you have shad and not getting any, carry bait buckets up and down muddy creeks while it is raining, drive around to bait holes all day and having no luck. These are just a few examples. Any body else got any good/bad/funny bait stories.
Peace Elijah

My bait spot is about a 200-300 yard walk from where i park. And after i catch my bait, i have to walk a full 5 gallon bucket of fish and water back to the car.

getting bait sucks sometimes! one of the sreeks i go to u have walk down a steep embankmaent with your gear. its cool with empty buckets but on the way out it sucks. ive fallen a couple of times and lost all the bait i just spent hours getting and then too mad to go do it again so i just go home... i hate buying bait but u think somtimes its worth it just not to have to drive all the way to your "hole" catch a few drive to your other holes getting wet and muddy rained on poked with thorns and then be tired by the time u get to the lakeor u can walk into hamilton wholesale place your order and get back in the car DRY and ready to go fishing. plus if u go get bait for u and whoevers going and they dont want to help get it!

Getting bait dose suck. Just the other week i fell down a hill when it was raining. Luckily Josh somehow caugt me and the bait so we servived.
I might as well own up to it now before Josh makes a smart ass comment. I have been a slacker as far as getting bait and Josh has gotten it for me this year more than once. Usually it is not that i dont want to help him get it but because i am busy or my old lady wont let me go. So it goes.
Peace Elijah

I hate the hike up the hills, I wiegh 320 and man it tears me up. To make it easier on myself I keep a 5 gal bucket of fresh water in the car and I carry a 5 gal bucket with holes drilled in it to the bait fishing spot. As long as your drilled bucket can hold about 1/4 water your bait will be fine until you get it back to the car and in to the fresh bucket of water. This will knock about 25 pounds of your hike. Hope this helps.

I usually just buy mine as I use goldfish and frozen shad.

I do the combo of buying and catching. I have step hill to also walk down, and then treck though and stand in inches of mud sometime to either catch or cast net my bait. I then have another spot where I have to walk through about a 100 yard tunnel to get to some creek chub, but its usually worth it.
