;D My husband and I enjoy taking our children fishing. This is one of the most kid friendly lakes we have been to. Most of the other local lakes we attend we have to worry about a lot of drama and commotion when doing an all night fish. There we can relax and enjoy fishing. Not having to worry about the kids being awoke by fighting, etc. Plus your guaranteed to catch something which is more than I can say for some lakes.

I'll have to try this lake based on your comments about kids. I've had bad luck night fishing - loud radios, bright lanterns, etc. Some folks are just rude. Fortunately most fisherman are respectful though.

There is one thing to keep in mind about Butler. They do (or did, I haven't been there in a while) have outdoor speakers that play music at the lake. They have played country music every time that I have been there, and country music makes me want to jump off of a bridge.

went to butler today - july 4th - first time. caught 2 channels and a 10pound shovel in 3 hours - not bad - saw a guy jump in the lake when they turned the country music on (just kidding).

I'll be canceling my planned trip to Butler now. I don't think I could take listening to country music all day.

If I wanted music I would turn my radio on (low) not to bother people across the lake. I would rather have it quite though. Having a peaceful relaxed time is half the fun of fishing, especially night fishing.

everybody relaxes in their own way - nothing wrong with a relaxing "cold one" - I am a "quiet" fisherman - like stinkie above - its just hard to relax if you don't like the type of music someone is playing - if i want music, ipod and headphones work well, then i don't bother other folks.

Nothing against haven a couple cold drinks on a hot day, but if I'm night fishing it makes it hard to stay awake....
