I've been saying it since the middle of last season... if marvin lewis doesn't win a playoff game this year, he should be fired. And since we have little chance of even making the playoffs, this should be his last year.
I've never seen a professional football team with less discipline on the field, or a coach who doesn't seem to care that his team sucks. Every time we screw something up, which is multiple times a game, marvin gives them a little clap and pat on the butt and a nice "we'll get 'em next time sport." This isn't pee wee football, it's the NFL. Have some fire and control over your players.
He was a good coach to get up out of the basement. But he'll never be more than a 8-8 or 9-7 coach. It's time to move on and get a qualified NFL head coach to take the reigns of the Bengals.
and BTW, did anyone else hear the marvin news conference today? When asked why his defense still sucks so bad after 4 plus years, his response was that he doesn't discuss it with the media and tells his players not to talk about it with the media either, because we "wouldn't understand". I think marvin is the one who doesn't understand how an NFL defense is supposed to work.

aernt we talking about grown men that should be responsible for their own actions. hes a coach not a baby-sitter. just because we lost to the browns everyone starts talking about how were the "bunguls" again. B.S. the begals have a high power offense a struggling D. we lost two huge factors in pollack and thurman(who should have been reinstated this year which is crap) we finally got rid of tory cant cover my grandma james and have to start a rookie at corner due to injury at things happen. you cant blame lewis for injurys and you cant blame him for off field antics THEY ARE GROWN MEN who make way too much money for playing a game some poeple would kill to play for less. you also have to take into account the schedule imean first four games three out of 4 went to the superbowl in the last 7 years 2 have won and the patriots and ravens have a lot of the same players from superbowl teams. so if lets support the bengals like many of us have ahve been doing for the past 20+ years not just in the chad stupid on field distaction johnson era and go 10-6 make the playoffs and keep the best coach ever to be in cincy!!

First of all, calling marvin the best coach ever to be in cincinnati shows how little you know about the history of Bengals football. Do the names Sam Wyche, Forrest Gregg, and especially Paul Brown mean anything to you?
And I'm not talking about the off the field problems. I'm talking about the team having no discipline on the field. At least Bruce Coslet and Richard (guess I can't say his real name on here, lol) LeBeau got in people's faces when they made a bungle play. marvin just claps his hands and pats their butts.
marvin was a great coach to bring a winning attitude, a little prestige, and an 8-8 record to the team. But in the 4 plus years he's been here he has a record of 36 - 30. And thats with one of the top offenses in football. Normal NFL teams don't praise rookie head coaches who go .500 3 out of 4 years. They start looking for a replacement.

Cincinnati has to be the most fickle sports town in America.
During the preseason when the Bengals were losing meaningless games, the fan response (through talk radio shows and Bengal forums) was 'This team sucks' and 'They'll be lucky to win three games'.
Then after everyone had left the Bengals for dead, they beat the Ravens. Suddenly everyone is changing their tune to 'playoffs baby' and Super Bowl or bust'.
Now, after losing a game on the road to a division rival, the fan base quickly turns back to 'this team sucks' and 'fire Marvin Lewis'.
Too many forget the state of the Bengals before Marvin Lewis got here. The man has turned the franchise around and put Bengals football back on the map. You want to fire him??? Personally, I'd rather not go back to Shula/Coslet/LeBlow.
There are 14 games remaining on the schedule. If Marvin goes 1-15, yeah he should be fired. If he is around .500, he stays. If he goes to the playoffs, they should extend his contract.

If romo is average also then carson is elite. I bet if you could choose between Carson and romo you would take Carson.

Now, after losing a game on the road to a division rival, the fan base quickly turns back to 'this team sucks' and 'fire Marvin Lewis'. If you read my original post, I made it clear that I've though he should be fired since the middle of last season. Too many forget the state of the Bengals before Marvin Lewis got here. The man has turned the franchise around and put Bengals football back on the map. You want to fire him??? Personally, I'd rather not go back to Shula/Coslet/LeBlow. I remember the state of the Bengals 5 years ago, and I don't want to go back to that state either. But I don't want to go 8-8 3 out of 4 years, and have a one and done in the playoffs 1 out of 4 years either. And Marvin lewis will always be a 8-8, 9-7, first round playoff loss head coach. He was awesome to get us out of the basement and into the middle ground of the NFL. Now we need a coach who can take us to the top of the NFL.
