Hey Randy nice set up. I seen a tank close to that just the other day, this feller had glued eggshell foam rubber and used feed salt to keep em alive. He said he keeps ice on hand in the summer to cool it and the foam from keeping them from beating their brains out. He said he nets em the day before he head out and was able to keep em alive all weekend with no problem. I am in the process of building one for my baithouse keep you updated.

TO keep them alive I just started using a little better bait just enough to change the water color a little. I then add a table spoon of aquarium salt. I havent lost any shad yet. I keep mine in a 10 galon igloo cooler, that has a 110 pump attached to the top. It keep the water temps down.

Looks like one of the LBL set-ups. He does a nice job and it keeps the rule pump outside the tank which I like a little better than some. You'll want to secure it good in your truck though. You can't have that thing start slidin around and let the pump bang into stuff.
Time to get the throw net out...

ive got the tank like that, but a diff. kind of pump setup, i just ue my inverters and airpumps and use just plain old table salt, thats work great, i had about 30 this wkend and lasted from Saturday till Monday afternoon till i drained the tank and froze them. But i like the look of the way the pump is set up.

This tank came from California and it only cost me $243.21 and that includes $45 to ship it........took about a week to get it but well worth the wait. I really wanted an insulated tank for shad but everything I found the pump was in the tank and I didn't like that so I'll just do my best at insulating it myself. Here's a link, www.livebaitlarry.com/bait_tank_index_pageOriginal.htmScroll down to the Shad and Herring tanks. Oh.......I think I forgot to mention, the pump is oxygen infused as well. I'm getting ready to go get some shad and play around with it, I guess I'll start with tap water and Shad saver and see what happens.

you don't want to use just regular table salt. the iodine in the table salt is hard on shad. use a feed grade salt or non-iodized salt. in 50 gallons of water, i put in two double handfuls along with bait saver. a few crushed saltine crackers can take off foam in a pinch.
