Was fishin wit catthrasher222 in a creek off of the great miami. The river was too swift. Anyhow we arrived and saw groups of gar circling under a bridge and thats where we set up. Busted one off of a bare hook, and catthrasher hit one off slivers of blugill. Well we ran out of bluegill with nothing but scrap carpet and lifesavers "the chewy ones" so we tried carpet and life savers. I well be damed we started tearing them up left and right. Just jigging peices of carpet they are feeding BIG TIME

It looks phreistoric. Its long and skinny with a super skinny snout and very sharp teeth. Found in rivers creeks and deeper lakes and ponds.looks like a crock head

The mouth of the licken river as it runs intio the Ohio is loaded with them, I would put on a piece of shad with a strip panty hose. We used to slay them they were about 2-3 feet in length. Man they can make a clicker scream.
