Take a cue tip and rub it all around the inside of your top eyelet checking for groves or splits..........that'll break your line on hook sets.
Or.......maybe a bad spool of line.
I don't have an Emcast so I can't relate it to the rod.
Those are my guesses.
Good luck

i was wondering about the stiffness of the rod.... I have brand new 11'6 st.croix rods and I have broke my line like 4 time on a hook set 30lb black widow... Maybe my drag was too tight

they way to fix that problem is to replace the tip eye with a stainless one. i saw that a couple wks. ago, and another guy told the guy that kept breaking his line to change is top eye to a stainless eye and he did and he said that he caught like 12 fish without a problem after that. Im going to Bass Pro this afternoon and gonna see about getting a few and do some changes myself.

You know after hearing about these rods, and all the rave reviews people were giving it on here I had to pick me up an 11' Emcast a few weeks ago. I still like my Tica's better but overall they're a decent piece, and I can also say that I've never broke line with it.
But I don't think it's the rods fault that you are breaking line... You mentioned you were breaking leaders too so, I don't think it has anything at all to do with the rod unless you have some crazy ass rigs and your leaders go up into your guides.
So start by checking your drag, make sure your not too tight that your getting breaks when you lay the haymaker on it. I usually go about 1/3 line weight and adjust mid-fight if I have too. Use bigger test line... I use Mamoi's(sp?) Diamond 30# line and it's awesome. With Big Game I had to respool about once every three trips due to abrasion (but I'm anal about abrasion and stretch). Also Black Widow's breaking point is almost exactly what it says, 30 breaks at 30, not like Big Game or Diamond where 30 might break at 35-38.
I don't want to sound like an ass telling you stuff you probably already know, but I don't see how it could be the rods fault, judging by your leader breakage.
Also, I've been noticing alot of people down at Fat Cats breaking at their knots. And when I ask them what kind of knots they were using they tell you blood knots. I use to break alot of blood knots and since I've been using polamer knots I haven't broke one yet. So if your using blood knots, I'd ask someone at the lake to show you how to make a polamer, just make sure you tie it wet.
