I don't own a paylake, but I assume the big fish are expensive. It only makes good business sense to provide a healthy environment to keep the fish alive and minimze the need to replace fish. Otherwise, the cash drain to continually replace ALL the fish would put the lake out of business. I would suspect that the majority of big fish die due to improper handling by some fishermen, including ripping out hooks instead of cutting the line, etc., and therefore many fish do need to be replaced. But that is different than a "blanket statement" that fish will "die in a paylake in a year".

well im not a paylake owner as well BUT i do and have fished them for yrs. and i know that they do will live for many yrs. take Triangle as a example, just this yr. a 62lb blue was caught in the 3rd lake and the new owners did not stock it this yr, and Tom the old owner hasnt stocked big fish for a few yrs. now, and one other lake for another example, E.Z. it used to be 2 lakes a few yrs ago, well a friend of mine caught a 48 lb. shovell and it had a tag in it, it when the owners had it before Jim (owner now) well the tag was put in the fish accord.. to the records that they had , it was from 1999, it was the first time that that fish had been caught sence it was stocked, like i said they kept a record of the tag # to see how many times the fish had been caught and the frowing of the fish that had tags in them. The fish that my friend caught weighed 41lbs when it was stocked in 99 and he caught it i think it was 02 or 03, so as for fish not growing and liveing long periods of time in paylakes well i will leave it at what i have said.

well i party at this pay lake called belfast twin lakes(a hole in the wall) and have fished there for many years and that lake went 5-7 years without being stocked and we were catching fish all the time and always the same fish being caught and they would get bigger every year, although there wasnt any 40+ getting caught till the end of last year after 3 months of the first 1500lb stock and only sence. so i know that fish live forever in lakes as long as they are being token care of.

i have been paylaking for 10 years and river fishing for 6 and i am college educated sinclair community college but it's still a college. for my point alot of people think cats reproduce in paylakes they wont and im not saying fish wont live for years in a paylake smaller ones will but when your talking about big blues and i mean 60+ your lucky if they make it one season. big blues need current to live, lakes where these fish live for years are lakes like kentucky lake santee these lakes have rivers running into them santee has the canal. these also come out of deep water anybody that fishes the river knows shallows for shovels deep holes for blues. so when you take a blue from 60 feet of water and put it in 20 what happens it dies. as for bighickory prove me wrong all these big fish your seeing have been put in this year. What a dumb ass statement

gee i see a trend all the pay lakes owners saying im wrong, well no hard feelings if i was a owner i'd want everyone to think my fish lived for ever too. but anyone who paylakes alot knows the fish don't last long thats why you have to put in 3 or 4 or 5 loads in each each it's called reloading and most of it is from winter kill. im not bashing any one ive never fished double, big reds , hickory, springwater, i have fished ez i mainly fish cp2,willdards,river. i know the around my neck of the woods they all lie about what they put in and what they have had die, which i dont blame them they are there to make money so if you put in 3 60lb fish and 2 die within a couple of weeks of course if no one sees that it's dead why tell them. just like the 70lb shovel at cp2 busted jar once and now is dead call out there i bet you they say it's still alive. this site to share info and im letting guys know which alot already know fish die in paylakes nothing wrong with it it's just part of the game but to try to make people think your fish live for 5 to 10 is'nt right becuase some will beleive it, if it was true you would only need to 1 or 2 loads in every 5 years. that does'nt happen because they die and you must reload. sorry if i pissed any one off i won't comment on this thread any more. fish on! Why don't you call out there before you tpye this and they will tell you its dead, died a few days later, because dumb a$$es were snagging it trying to get paid, its those people who kill the fish, not the owners..... Rob is a good example, people care for the fish there and along with his techniques, he keeps them as long as he does....
