I was there last Thursday night, My buddy hit a 40 pound blue in the first 15 minutes, I had one break off on the hook set. Other than that it was really cold and slow. I am trying to get back up there before he shuts it down for the year.

Fished Hickory for the first time yesterday. Couldn't wait till next year with the great weather. Fished the big lake for the first couple hours, a ton of fish laying in the deep hole in the middle. Every time I trolled thru it, float would move sideways bumping into fish. But they would not bite at all. Rob showed up and told me the new little lake had been the best lately. He told me where an 11 ft. hole was and didn't take long to find it. Caught 2 dinks in the 1st hour (both shovels), but then hit a 52 blue on fresh skipjack. MY BIGGEST FISH EVER, IN NOVEMBER ! I'm hooked for life. Caught 1 more blue about 25 lbs before heading home.
Thanks Bighickory, I'll be back next week.

did you catch that 52 out of that new lake(mud puddle)? i fished that little thing and the hole in the middle but i only found 9 foot, and ya the big lake in that trench tjhere is alot of fish because thats the deepiest hole so there going to school up there,i was trolling that same spot and all i did was snag shovels,i dont know just maybe the day were there was a bad day,but like i said i will try it again.AND YES THE BLUES WILL BITE ALL WINTER THEY LOVE COOL WATER,I CATCH THEM WHEN THERE IS ICE ON THE LAKE YOU JUST HAVE TO FIND THEM SCHOOLED UP.

There is a hole in the middle of the little lake, but its deeper on each corner. Thats why you only found 9 ft. The deeper holes are better right now. And the hole in the middle of the big lake is not the deepest. The deep hole in the big lake is on the far bank half way to the bubbler. You need to fish it at 12 ft. right now. I told Josh he should have shown you how to fish the lake while he was down there, but he was thinking more of hunting I think.
