I used to know a guy who did catfish charter trips and that was one of the places he would hit up.

Any dam on the Ohio has a sand bar down river from them dam. It's on the ky side at Meldhal. It's deep, lots of current, i'm not going to tell ya were some structure is but isn't that the fun of catfishing anyway? I also have alwyas done good with shovels and channels all the way up to the dam. When they have a gate open that you dont have to wade out to reach the current I have caught a lot of cats fishing for hybrids and stripers. So that whole general area is good. Plus while your there bait is a breeze to get. Shad will be schooled up in the current ussualy. Or in feeder creeks depending on temps. And on sunny days the skipjack will be up on the dam. They are a tricky bunch to catch. I use 1/8th once chartruce jig heads witht two inch curly tails. You will go throgu ha lot of saugers and white bass. But have patience because when we catch one its ussualy a few pounds. Best cutbait for any river cats!!!!
