I have a fisherman from Lexington who bought 2 of these last year. He had broken 2 emcasts, and wanted something that would hold up, but still wanted graphite. They are a little heavier than the other graphite rods, but they won't break like the others. He caught tons of BIG fish on these and loves them. I will be buying one this spring to try it out. They're not cheap, but you DO get what you pay for.

I know you use a St. Croix rod and after using it this rod would feel very weird in your hand. Like bighickory said this rod is heavy compared to other graphite surf rods and from using these myself i can tell you already that you are not going to like the short handle especially after using St. Croix which has a long handle. The 10 footer has Medium action but feels more like heavy action compared to other rods. I would strongly consider not buying this rod until you have tested it yourself.

The 10' 6" rods are the heavy action. I'm gonna give one a try. I liked the one I checked out, but I usually don't like ANY graphite rods, so the heaviness is more for my taste. But again, I like a shorter handle as well. I'm hoping for the strength of a conventional rod, with closer to the weight and diameter of a graphite. We shall see. Should have it in a week or so.
