Hello, this is my first time on the board and I am really impressed. Me and my brother are thinking about planning a weekend trip on the third weekend in March. I was wondering if this fish are hitting. I have been to Cozy-Dale one other time and did ok but nothing really to brag about. Anybody have any suggestions on which lakes will be open and which one would be our best bet. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cozy-Dale is a great lake, you just have to 'learn' it. I've yet to go fishing this year, so I don't know how the fish are acting right now. I know Cozy-Dale will let you fish right now if you want. The bait shop is not open, but the owners will eventually notice that you are there and charge you their ticket price.

Just remember, the owner also feeds the fish. But there are a lot of fish in the lakes.

any tips on the new lake or the big lake.. i know the barrels in the new lake and usually fish about 11-13 ft deep. but seems ppl all around me using the same bait and same depth always catch fish and i dont even get bites i see ppl pulling huge ones out all day long i must be doing something wrong. any tips on this lake? i also heard they prefer smaller baits at these lakes. tried everything. i do good there but not like alot of the regulars do.

I talked to bill the guy that works at cozy and he told me small pieces of shad are working great in both the big lake and new lake. I always have my luck though on small warmouth or pumpkin seeds. I fish the new lake when i go. I caught a 45.7 and a 42.6 in less than two hours of fishing there. I fish down at the shack with no top on it on the wooded side.
