i think the fish at least try to spawn, water temp is what triggers it so most paylakes are in general not deep and they at one time or another reach the spawning temp to trigger their natural intstincts, whether they are successful or not who knows, but if there's carp in a paylake they tear up the banks spawning, so why wouldn't a catfish try to spawn also? there's always gonna be the ongoing dispute between paylakin' and non paylakers,honestly i think paylake fishin is harder than any river fishin, all my river fishin is done on bottom a slip sinker rig w/ a 3 oz no roll and circle hooks, but paylakin' you gotta find'em at different depths and different baits and all that sfuff, sry for the novel
