dont understand all this blues/shovelhead talk, i do you know what fish you are going to catch, i use lice dead/cut bait and ive caught just as many blues on live bait that i have on cut bait, and same as shovels. You dont know which fish you going to hit until you set the hook, then sometimes you can tell but i have had blues act like a shovel till you get them up by the bank, and then again the same goes for shovels acting like blues.. You just dont know what is hitting your bait untill that time. yeah sometimes blue do hit and run like mad BUT ive seen them just hold it and not move at all, same as shovels...

very true it just about the odds you know the odds of catching blues is better on deadbait then catching shovels on dead ive caught both ondead but most of my big blues have been on dead look at them in blues biggest colum

ph i agree, there is more caught on dead bait, but like you said its all about the odds, ive caught alot of shovels on B.G. heads and other cut bait, but i have also caught alot of big blues on live bait as well. My uncle caught his 74 lber. @ C.P.2 on a BIG reg. bluegill. It was prob. as big as you hand, well my hand, i catch blue gills like that all the time at a local pond here by my house. Thats all i catch my fish on 3/4 of the time..
