Well aware of the laws Kingcat, I appreciate the concern. I think what alsept was referring to was the laws in reagrds to using traps. If not mistaking, I think just about everyone one this forum has used bass, bluegill, and crappie. You name the fish and I am sure it has had a hook in its back. I have been fishing for about 25 years and have never been questioned by the law about the bait I was using. Sure would hate to get caught thow.

Yeah i was talking about the trap. I know the hole cant be bigger than 1 inch in diameter, and longer than 24 inches long. So be careful if you make it bigger.

I went to home depot to pick up the mesh. I picked up a roll for about $15. It was located with the gardening supplies. For my frame I used coat hangers. I bent them as straight as I could and then cut them to the length I wanted. Once I had the length right, I used electrical tape to tape the two together so the trap would be more sturdy in the water. So my frame is doubled up in all spots. To keep the mesh to the frame I used zip ties, the problem with the zip ties is I had my wife pick them up and she picked up floresent green, pink, and orange. So my trap looks like a freaken rainbow. The next one I build I will use black zip ties. My trap is 28" long and 14" square. I still have enough to make 2 more. Totoal cost would be 3 quality traps for about $30. I hope this helps.

Bring some of your supplies with you when you come to the Cast aways tourney, and maybe I can throw one together for you while we are fishing. It took me about 4-5 hours to do my first one, I should be able to trim some time off of that.
