OK hears the deal these are not that bad of a rod I have three of them and only had a problem with one of the eyes coming out. The good thing is that Bass pro will not ask you any questions except maybe how it happened. Then they will give you a brand new one at no cost no matter how old it is.

I've never fought a fish on one, but I know some guys that have them. They always complain about the eyes on them. I don't really like their reels either. The clickers aren't loud enough.

Never had the reel but i know what your talking about. seems they are very cheaply made. I'll stick with Abu Garcia's Ambassadaur reels for now.

I fished with a catmax rod one night and took it back the next day. It was heavy and awkward. I think i missed like 8 fish that night all on that rod. It could have been me, but i had never before or sence missed fish like that. Furthermore, i did not think it fought fish well. I felt like i had a hard time getting them in on that rod. I hated it, but others love it so who knows? Peace Elijah

i bought two of the cat max rods last year 7 footers to use for river rods paid $99 a piece for them and took them back the next day the eyes would bend under the slightest pressure my bait poles had stronger eyes. went to bass pro this year during there big tent sale and they had a rack full of those rods on sale $24.99 i know they where the same rods because i sat there with my tumb and bent the eyes on about 3 or 4 of them. the sales man got alittle upset about and tried to make me pay for them i thought i was going to get kicked out of bass pro.

At the tourney last Sunday ratliff broke his Eagle Claw rod in half setting the hook on a 9 lb fish. I don't think i will ever try those rods lol.

They have updated the rods for 2007, and they are a lot nicer. The eyes are stronger, and the tip of the rod is white, so you can see it at night. They also have a silver catfish picture on them, pretty sharp.
