cant help it. $70 or more for 1 of 6500 is to much money!! my Eagle Claw The Beast (SHB-L10) Casting Reel is a little to big...was only $24. if a 33 can get 130# catfish on 12# line why pay $70 for a 6500???

$70 or more for 1 of 6500 is to much money!! My 2 cents You can buy a tide water or some other reel for $35 bucks and it might last you a few years. You can buy a 6500 and it will last for life. I've been down both roads, and I wish I would have bought the good reels sooner. It the whole 'spending good money after bad' deal. But to each his own. Baitcasting reels with clickers under $50 that I can think of: Shakesphere Tidewater - My friends have bought them, I've seen them fail many times. Shakeshere SPK something - I've seen these reels, they look nicer than the Tidewaters, but I've never used one. Master 185 - I've owned two, they were 'ok', but I'd never buy another. I traded the two for one 6500c3 online. Rhino something or another - I bought a combo Rhino reel and 9' rod for $65.00. The reel was very large, about the size of an abu 7000. It had a loud clicker, but didn't cast well, and had a questionable drag. The thing was mostly plastic and not very durable. The rod was ok, but not very thick/sturdy. Used Abu Garcias - Very easy to find a used Abu on E-bay, at your local flea market, or at a yardsale for under $50. I bought a used 6000 at a flea market for $30. Its at least 15 years old. I have abused it and have never had a problem out of it. Also of note, a new Abu Garcia 6000 is $59.95 at Walmart.

usually they are in the stock with the other reels hanging on the racks. they are the same as the 6500 but they are a bushing reel instead of bearings. still an awesome reel

I know the wal-mart here in Kettering does sell the 6000's i was just there yesterday and was looking at them. they run like 59.88 i think. I have 2 6500 and 2 Shimono's corsairs and the S. Cor. i love except for the clicker location but they are great reels. and few others as well.(reels) They had like 5 or 6 on there shelf yesterday.. (6000).

Try out what you have, I'm not familiar with your reel and it could be an excellent reel. I'm just a big Abu fan, I own six of them.

IT IS THE BEST REEL EVER MADE BY FAR thats not completely true i have a few reels belonging to my grandfather, they are old 5000 with the spool knobs on both sides. i could most defenitly use these if i wanted to but i choose not to. they have to much sentimental value to take a chance of losing them. but i will agree a zebco33 is a classic and all around the best universal fishing outfit made.
