for my leaders i just double the line im using so a 20lb would make a 40lb leader i could be wrong on the stength but you would think two lines on your leader would mean double the strength.

i use the same for both, ive never had a problem with me leader breaking or anything.. I do have one hell one a jerk when i set the hook, ive been tald that im gonna break a rod one of these days jerking so hard.. LOL Not as of yet i haven't knock on wood.. Dont get to many lines broke.. I have had a few hooks stratened out at Wild bills never got to see the fish, could be bad hook at that time or just a nice fish. I did get to see the waves from one at What used to be J.P. out in prebble county.. it was a big fish...

The only reason I use a lighter line than what's on my reel as my leader is when I'm fishing some kind of structure. That way when you get snagged up from fishing so close to the structure you only break your leader and you don't loose your float and stuff........that could get expensive quick

LETS SEE I BELIEVE IT DEPENDS ON THE STRUCTURE. ALOT OF PAYLAKES DONT HAVE MUCH STRUCTURE. I SEE SALTWATER FISHING ARE CATCHING MARLINS ON 20lb TEST LINE WOW I USE 20lb BIG GAME I BELIEVE THAT WORKS LETS REMEMBER YOU WILL NOT OVER POWER THESE FISH THEY GET WORE OUT AND THEN LANDED.

I USE THE 30 LB BASS PRO EXCEL LINE TOO! THE ONLY THING ABOUT SUFFIX IS I DONT THINK IT WILL SINK VERY WELL! I TO USE IT FOR BASS FISHING OR ANYTHING ELSE REALLY FOR THAT MATTER! JUST DONT THINK ITS A GOOD IDEA WITH BOBBER THE WIND WILL TAKE IT FOR A RIDE!

LETS REMEMBER YOU WILL NOT OVER POWER THESE FISH THEY GET WORE OUT AND THEN LANDED. I have to disagree... My definition of overpowering a shovel or blue is to turn his head and this is possible. This is a must if fishing close to structure and the lakes I fish have plenty of structure.....barrels/tree stumps/bubbler's/rocks/bouies (spelling).........I am not saying that you can winch them in because they will break your line but you can overpower them for a few seconds to steer them away from a snag. Just my opinion

I agree with Randy I fished nothing but Cozy-Dale and Monroe before i discovered Cedar and i have had countless numbers of fish at Cozy-Dale swim into the rock piles while Im battleing him and snapping my line so the first thing i do is turn his head after setting the hook so he cant swim into the structure Im fishing.
