I DON'T LIKE LATERANS EITHER THEY PUT OFF A GLARE ON THE WATER AND YOU CAN'T SEE NOTHING.AS FOR THESE FISHING LIGHTS GOOD LUCK TRYING TO GET ONE IN A PAYLAKE BUT IF YOU BUY ONE I WOULD TRY IT OUT IN A DIFFERENT LAKE YOU KNOW YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH IT..

yeah i know they do work at night in like a state lake off of a boat. We use them in the earlly spring for crappie at grand lake. it bring in the little minnows (bait fish) and the crappie go crazy and you can catch the hell out of them.. But paylakes well even if they would let you how would you get it to stay out where you wanted to be. They only have like a 50ft cord on them. the ones we have anyway..

Don't we get enough light from everything else on the lakes. It never fails that I have someone across from my with some new halagon lantern that could light up a forest.
And oh gracious, heaven forbid you ask someone to turn it down.

Lanterns are ok as longas you keep in a bucket or shield it away from the water

yea but most people shield it away from them selves witch in turn blinds the hell out of you across the lake.......
I hate lanterns, 1 of many reasons why I don't fish at night anymore.

I dont think lanterns are a bad idea if used properly, be curtious to those around you use it for seeing only what needs to be seen like re stringing a float after moby pops your line lots of older people, who still like to fish at night, sometimes need the extra light. if someone's light gets in my eyes then i usually just turn my head or move my float a couple of feet. I figure i am out there to relax not complain.

i got 2 battery opp. ones. they take 4 D's, only time i use them is to get bait on of take or to rerig my poles. Or if im cooking a steak or 2 on the grill, i d pack a small carcoal grill sometimes when i go for a couple days. The battery opp. one are like 15 buck and i can make one last aobut 4-6 or 7 trips as long as i dont use it alot..
