I made a post yesterday about taking my 7th straight skunking at castaway.
With that being said it is still the nicest paylake I have been to, must be some reason I keep going back ;D
The palce is clean and well run with friendly owners.
I have seen some nice fish caught, mainly by people trolling, I am not a troller, I prefer to cast out and wiat on the fish to come to me.
My son wants me to take him back agin this week, and try to prove we dont suck as bad as we think ;D
I hasve fished seceral spots, mainly in front of the bait house between the 2 bottom diffusers...fished on bottom and at depths from 14 feet up to 3feet.
Mainly fish shad but have tried gills and skipjack.
I would reccomend this palce to anyone wanting a clean family fishing experince...I just wish I could catch a fish!

Hey Flat,
Try the corner across the lake and diagonally to the left of the bait shop for blues. And don't hesitate to try setting shallower - between 6 & 8 feet.
The shallow water at the opposite end of the lake can be very good for shovels after dark.
Good luck.

Our lake is deep and the next time you come down ask for Larry and I will help you find a place so you can catch some fish. Just stocked 5 more Flatheads over 50 lb tonight. Besides Lake Gloria before Brian sold it, this is the best paylake I've been to. It was desigened and built to substain a large population of catfish for a long time. The airators and diffusers are set up properly so the whole lake is at great oxygen levels. I went there maybe a month after it opened. I dont remember. But I was fishing for trout. Didn't get any but caught some nice carp and channels. I like that diversity in a lake. I also noticed the water clearity and how clean it was around the lake. I havent been there in a while but my next trip to a paylake will be to castaway!!!

I'll be there Friday or Saturday night. Last time I was there you told me a good spot and I did good. This time I'm going after cats so I'm looking foward to it!! What are you stocking this week? If my dad comes with me he likes to catch channel cats for some reason. I caught several nice ones last time I was there. He doesn't even eat them. Just likes the fight the put up with small tackle. To each his won I guess. Or if my friend Craig comes with me how are the carp in there doing? Stock any latley?

Ok first of all Larry up there at Castaway is a great guy, very nice and has about everything you would ever need. However as many times as I have been skunked out there i just dont see myself spending much more time there. My brother told me about Vince and how he know that lake......he must fish there alot. Anyway I understand paylake fishing very well and I consider myself a ok fisherman but to have the right bait at the right time just never seems to happen there. Thats why my bumper sticker says I'd rather be fishing Horseshoe Lake....Thats where you'll find me.
Good Luck & troll hard.
