I've been told by 2 differen't ppl that the big catfish in this lake have been sold to other lakes. Now it's blue gill and carp heaven. Anyone else heard this? I haven't fished it in many years.

They changed the way the lake was run to make it a 'family' lake. They stocked a lot of channels and bluegill. Any catfish you catch out of there, you can take home. Lots of guys started hauling out the big fish. I heard rumors that they turned off all of the aerators and killed a lot of the big fish. I haven't been there for a long time.

Yes it's part of ham-co parks - it's real popular with the old folks because they get free tickets with a golden buckeye card Went once or twice last year but got skunked. Did see lotsa carp jumpin' & floppin' though.

L. Isabella did allow people to take some of the big cats out and yes some were probably sold to other pay lakes. They stopped allowing that last year and are stocking big Blues again. I saw a posting about Carp, they put a load of huge ones in last year. Some were 30#ers. Ref Sharon Woods, the big Blues are still there and are catch and release only.

By the way, I dont know where the rumor about the aerators causing a fish kill came from, thats fiction too. Unless they are talking about something that happened in the 60's. I just learned that a load of huge Blues were put in L.Isabella last week. Some were 50#ers. Good luck folks!

Lake Isabela caters to family fishing since it is a public park. They stock channels every week. A new thing this year is hundreds of "kid size" fish were stocked so the family fishing outting is fun. It is a great place to take the kids fishing so they have a chance to catch fish. If someone is a die hard big cat person then I would not focus on Lake Isabela. But if your kids don't want to wait 5 hours to get a bite from the big cat then go and enjoy.

But... -Going to Isabella, one needs a fishing license -One has to pay
When: -Since you arleady have you license, and as long as your kid is under the age of 16, one could go to say East Fork, Stone Lick, etc... not really all that far from Loveland -Yes, they don't stock, but the fish are there/ -The Little Miami can produce channels and shovels, and it runs right behind Isabella

Heard on the radio that the state of Ohio is planning on giving Lake Isabella $44,000 to stock there lake. that is just a waste i think.

I heard that 2 Hope they put in more big fish like the last 2 years ..I had several over 40 and a couple over 50 last year...You should check the place out it has changed over the last couple years .. new manager new ideas..Biggest bait and tackle selection on the east side its like bass pro east its unbelievable ...I doubt the state is putting up the cash its probably the county park system.. 44k in fish in one lake is more than anybody else in the area is stocking I bet.. I know the fish they get come from midwest / cedar so you know they are quality fish... I got a copy of the stocking schedule at the sports show for Lake Isabella the trout stocking is 1000lbs on the 22 of feb. and some ever friday for 6 or 7 weeks then catfish every friday til late fall then trout again..also 2000 lbs of SHOVELHEADS and Blues...
