OK, Chetac is one of my favorite lakes. It has always produced for me and I have never been skunked. The lake is really shallow and easy to fish. I had learned the whole lake, and where all of the deeper pockets were. I started noticing tow years ago that the lake was really going down hill when I went there on a Saturday night, and nobody was there. The whole lake was closed down. A few weeks later, I decided to go back, but I called to be sure that they were open. The guy at the bait shop ensured me that they were open and would be for the rest of the evening. Then, my friends and I went and got bait and packed up all of our gear, and went to the lake. They were closed. I was furious with anger and boycotted the lake for the rest of the year. Last year, they were closed. Hopefully, this lake re-opens under new management, because its a really good lake.

The problem from my understanding, is that the far lake is owned by not only the owners of Chetac but, also the ppl that own those house's next to it. Over the years there has been to many complaints about noise, trash, the dead catfish smell ect........ and the homeowner(s) have decided to seek legal means. Which because it's owned by both if one says no pay fishing on that lake, then the other must comply. I haven't been out there in many moons, always had a good time when i went though. Hopefully they can reach an agreement. If I was false informed of the situation I am sorry for passing on the gossip. It used to be one of my favorite lakes to visit when I was a child with my stepdad and my Zebco 33's.

I see what you mean. That area at the end of the lake that goes into the peoples' back yard. Hopefully they can sort that out.
Thanks

To my knowledge the big lake did not turn over ! they made him drain it in fear of the d**n breaking/leaking and flooding the house's below it. I believe they saned the big lake and put all the fish in the small lake........That's what they say anyway

Yeah its been awhile but i was there one summer night and it really started to rain hard so i got in the car and by time i reliz.. the lake had came up like a foot with the creek running into it and all, and there was a low spot on the dam side of it and it would go threw there down into the creek below and flood the subd.. out behind it..
