We don't fish for the big ones there but we tore the eaters (1-4lb) up every time we went this year in the round pound. Google eyes and shrimp/crawler about 3ft. deep.

I catch about 75 - 100 channels a year on shrimp. This is what works for me. Buy the frozen shrimp, shell on (50 - 60 bag count). Use a 1 OT circle hook. Thaw and peel shrimp - will have a strong fishy smell since the shell protects the meat & flavor. Put shrimp on hook near tail end to keep hook exposed. Fish about 1 foot off the bottom ( 90% of the time I use little bobbers). Fun as heck to watch thoes bobbers disappear. Doesn't work all the time but it is my "go to" bait.
