We just booked two night fishing trips with Dale Broughton, Catfishing Guide (513-248-9032), today. We went out with him last year and had a great time, but the river was up so high it made it hard to hit the real deep waters. We caught 23 catfish, a mix of shovels and channels, ranging from 5lbs to 12lbs. We take our first trip in two weeks and the second one is scheduled for the middle of September. We don't have a boat, so this is one of the few ways we can get on the river and hopefully tangle with some monster cats. It cost about $100 a man, but all you do is sit back and watch the pole tips and listen for clickers whining...he does all the rest! He catches bait, sets up the poles, dips the fish, unhooks the fish, releases the fish..all you do is set the hook, reel, and take pictures! I recommend this trip to anyone and I will be sure to let everyone know how we did!

I tried to set something like this up a few years ago with my dad. The guide I spoke to wanted something like $300 plus $100/fisherman. I told him he was crazy. Let me know how you do, I may check it out.

Myself, Brother, Father, and Brother-in-Law went out last night with catfish guide Dale Broughton. We had a great time, as expected! He has a 21 foot custom boat with a wide beam, high sides, and a 225 out board, which is perfect for cat fishing and allows for plenty of room to fish four people. We brought a few snacks and pops, as well as a camera and that was it. He had already caught bait, mostly bluegills. He mentioned that shad had become a lot of work on the river to catch since the water has been down so low. We fished with both live and cut bait, catching more fish on the cut bait. He sets up 8 poles and we fished two people at a time, then rotated out after each caught fish. He uses 7 1/2 foot Berkley E-Cat rods with Ambassador 7000's on each of them. They are spooled with 30lb Berkley Big Game Solar, with 50lb leaders, and 7/0 J-hooks. We fished four or five holes on the Ohio River, west of the city. We caught 21 catfish between the four of us. Every fish was over 5lbs and put up a great fight in the river current. We each caught one around 20lbs and our two biggest were 25lb and 30lb shovel heads (both landed by me). We also caught a lot from that 10lb to 15lb range. I do not know the exact breakdown, but over half our fish were shovel heads and few blues, the rest were channel cats. We fished from 7pm to about 4am and had an exciting night. Dale has a great personality and seems to really know his stuff, I would recommend this trip to any cat man out there!

No way would Dale ever do that. This is his livelihood. He will let u take a couple small ones if you want them. He is so anal on keeping his 40,000 dollar cat fishing boat clean, he hates to even get them in the boat. Dale is awesome at what he does and worth the money every time!

me and a couple buddys went with dale a few years back he really knows his stuff , i would do it again . we caught a sh*t load, biggest was a 25 shovel and a 20 shovel and alot in the teens dont know the exact count but it was my best fishing trip on the river ever ! he really is good at what he does, you dont have to do a thing but hook and bring them in . The 25 was my biggest at the time and still my biggest on the river this was also my first time fishing from a boat on river and only time ! but like CUTBAIT said he is very anal about getting his boat dirty witch i prob. would be if i had a nice set up like him ! he wanted to hold my fish i caught when we went to take the picture i was not gonna let that happen lol ! this hillbilly holds his own fish ! he came around though and we had a great trip as for him selling fish to lakes i doubt it, he loves this stuff and thats how he makes his money so he wants that river packed with big boys so i dont think he would do that ! he was alittle weird about some things he thought we had people following him to steal his spots but we kept telling him we dont even have a boat or we would not be paying him to bring us fishing lol! if you got the money check him out it's wort it !
