TOOK A RIDE DOWN TO MELDAHL DAM APRIL 29 TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON. I COULD'NT BELIEVE MY EYE'S, I WAS WATCHING TO GUY'S WITH SPINNING REEL'S CASTING OUT IN FRONT OF THE LOCK'S WITH BIG SPOON'S. I ASK THEM WHAT THEY WAS FISHING FOR AND THEY SAID STRIPPER'S. BUY THE WAY THESE WAS AT LEAST 12 FT ROD'S AND SOOM BIG REEL'S. I ASK THEM IF THEY DID ANY GOOD AND THEY SAID THEY HOOKED UP ON FIVE SO FAR BUT NEVER LANDED ANY YET. I ASK IF THEY JUST COME OFF, THEY SAID THEY BROKE THERE LINE. AND THEY HAD ONE SPOON LEFT TO FISH WITH. THEY WAS USEING 30# BRAIDED LINE SO THEY COULD CAST OUT THAT FAR. I SAT THERE AND WATCH FOR AWHILE AND FINELY THEY HOOK UP WHAT EVER IT WAS IT WAS BIG!!!!!!!!! I COULD'NT BELEIVE IT THAT FISH PULLED AT LEAST 100 YARD'S OF LINE OFF OF THE REEL FINELY THER WAS A STAND STILL. THIS WENT ON FOR 45 MIN. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, HE'S TEARING MORE LINE OFF I COULD'NT BELIEVE MY EYE'S. THIS FISH WAS AT LEAST THE FIFTH LOCK OUT IN THE RIVER, AND KNOW STOPPING HIM. THE GUY SAID HE'S GOING TO BREAK ME OFF, AND AFTER ABOUT FIVE MORE MIN HE DID. YOU HAD TO BE THERE TO BLEIVE IT. THE FIGHT LASTED ABOUT AN HOUR. I WILL BE DOWN THERE AND TRY THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They won't let you anywhere near the locks. They have buoys a couple hundred yards away from them and if you are caught inside the buoys, they get mad.

TOOK A RIDE DOWN TO MELDAHL DAM 5/6/07 SEEN TWO STRIPPER'S CAUGHT. I ASK THE TO FISHERMAN WHAT IS THE BEST TIME FOR STRIPPER'S, AND THEY SAID THEY ARE RUNNING RIGHT NOW. BUT THE WATER NEED'S TO CLEAR UP MORE, AND IT WOULD BE BETTER FISHING.

I haven't been down there in a few weeks, but last time I was there was no skips. There hasn't been any current so the skips and cats have disappeared. With this rain this week, there should be a little current so the fishing should be better. Good luck Saturday.
