I just started using traps this year, I look for deep holes adn put bread inthe trap with a can of tuna that has holes punched in it. I leave it there for 24 hours. My trap is 3 feet long and about 20 inch diameter. So it can hold a lot of fish. If it is a smaller trap you may want to check it every 8 hours. I hope this helps.

Same here, if you know were any farm ponds are or a lot of blue gill, try some dog food, any dry dog food will work I catch more than enough, be sure to check the trap if you don't know if bait fish are around if you don't catch any in about 3-4 hours move to a new location. I'm with flatheadsteve, once you find a good sorce of baitfish let that sucker set overnight.

they're creeks everywhere, drive around in a rural area and find a creek off main roads somewhere, i live in a rural area where there's creeks all over you just gotta make sure its got holes and not tiny little creeks with no depth anywhere, those creeks out on country roads nobody goes to are usually infested with chubs and shiners
