Guys im making my fist trip of the year to cat 1, I just discovered this board and thought id log on !
I have been to Cat 1 too many tiems to count and have noticed the last couple of years it has slowed down not hitting nearly as big of fish? Should i be looking at another lake now ? is this still the best lake for catching big cats and lots of them??
my second question is does anyone know of a place or a person who will sell u shad ? here in WV we dont have shad and it is an inconvenience for me to drive up and then have to catch bait . I usually fish blugill/heads,bass,chubs,leaches,yellowbellies, but would love to get some shad and would pay a fair price for them.
thanks guys!!

no this lake is not the best lake for catchin big fish.... if you want to catch alot of fish and have a chance at a big fish cp2 and cp1 are good lakes ... but if your wanting to go out and catch huge fish i wouldnt recomend this lake... somewere like hickory grove would be a better place.

is hickory grove better than cp2 and how where is it. I live around clarksburg wv that is why i have always went to cp1 ,i can be there in an hour or so. thanks guys i appreciate the info, i used to love cp1 5 or 6 years ago we could go up in april and catch 40 or 50 fish on a ticket trolling leaches/crawlers or cut mullet fishing the road side between fifth and sixth areators. The lake seems to be let go. I want to try cp2 , i just dont want to drive up that far and not like it. U know how it is learning a new lake anyways. I know cp1 like the back of my hand which is a big advantage. i called up to cp1 ,guy at the desk said they killed em last night? but u know how that is lololol he said they have put 9000 pounds in cp1 so far this year?

Lake ez sells shad. I don't relay now the prises of them. It is a lot cheaper to buy a cast net and get them your self. Almost every state lake and river have them in them. you just got to find where they are at.

i live near cp2 and i dont fish there much i like cp1 alot more than 2 its just hard to get there for me anymore with price of gas and stuff but what your talking about with lake being let go i think your used to catching big fish and your not seeing them. its not that theres not fish in cp1 but rather the size of the fish are smaller its the same over here at cp2
