there are some big fish in there, i fish it quite often with my boys when we want to just go and mess around, it used to be a paylake yrs. ago. Middletown police use to use it for training, dive and rescue, i dont think they do anymore. But there are some big fish in it. I saw a guy fiight on on the docks for about 30 mins. and never even got it close to the dock to see it before it broke off. they use to catch them on alot on goldfish and creek chubs.

Update on Smith , you can fish at night, you need to park outside the gate on the airport side
and walk in , no lights or fire and be discreet, the police will or I should said ; brother you only if your carrying on badly enough that the neighbors call or they hear you on rounds even then they may only ask: doing any good tonight ? or ask you to leave?
as to fish there is 2 spoonbills about 6 ft long every see a long shadow in the water your seeing them. shovels they are there and been caught the old Parkway had pictures of them and we had fishermen tell us of their fish, 1 caught a 32 # shovel , only he ate it , had a fish fry going on needed more channel caught it soooooooooo , i told him i felt he was wrong as it takes time to get to be a nice shovel and 32 on his scales is a nice one in my book.
smith park supports shovels , channel , bass , carp , may be some drums left from paylake days , and of cousre crappie and blue gill, city stocks every year small fish for thier kids derby held in June , no license needed open to public AS the Fish Lady I will be doing a show on it too. DO NOT SWIM in it there is a under current in it and it is not safe, oh and it comes with alot of ducks lol nancy @ BirdSeeds
