I've decided to upgrade my poles and have come down to either an 11' emcast or 10' ugly stik but I am stumped about which to buy and since I am a 4 year rookie at paylaking I would like some input from some of you others that may own these poles or fish with someone that does, which do yall like better or think would hold up better, thanks to all for any comments

if you want a rod that will last forever than go with the ugly stick.i have a couple of emcast rods and like them .they are very lite and still stiff enough to through large baits.but i have broken 2 in 2 years.i own a lot of rods and use all of them and the emcast is the only rod that i have broken

go w/ the ugly stix! they will outlast the emcast and are 4x more rugged than the emcast ever wish they could be

I have not used either of the rods. However from all of the reviews I have read on this site and others, it seems like the Ugly Stick is the better choice, in terms of long term durability. Hell the other night when I was at Hickory the guy next to me got a 61 pounder on a 9 Ft Medium action ugly stick with a spinning reel and 20 lb test. That rod was bent double like there ads picture, but it got the job done. He said he hit a 65 on the same rod the week before, so they are definitley tough.

Ugly stick is a a great brand by far the toughest but they are a little heavy for me i still like Daiwa rods i still use 11ft Daiwa Eliminators had 3 of them for 6 years now no problems.

just thought I would give yall an update, thanks for all your comments and suggestions, I went with a 10' ugly stick heavy action and I love em, although the biggest I have caught on one is a 20-25 lb it felt very good, nice hook set and no problem getting it in, now i'm just looking for that big hog to bend it good, lol, fish on guys
