I have been getting these reels off of ebay brand new from 40 to $50 they have the thumb bar line release and the clicker pushes down instead of up. They cast super smooth and so far have been wonderful, I have bought 3 of them they are so nice, my ? is why are these so cheaply priced? ???I cant get any info from abu on them, they are great reels just wondering if anybody knows anything about them and any problems they are known for.

a friend of mine bought three of these back in the spring, and they worked great at first. he ended up completly stripping the gears out of one while fighting a fish, and messed up another on a big blue. this all happened in about eight weeks of fishing. maybe he just got some bad ones, i dunno, but i haven't seen anyone else using them. his were a maroon color

I think these are also made in China, which cuts down on the price a lot. Someone said though they are still stamping "Made in Sweden" on the side, when really they are made in China.

The only places i have seen selling them are walmart I am partial to shimano calcutta but i thought i would buy one of the abu you are talking about it felt smooth and at a good price . I tore it up the first night i use a 10 foot rod and set the hook hard, so i'm not sure what part of it tore up but before the night was over when you set the hook . the line spool would back spin with a clicking noise.. I took it back to walmart and got a refund, Like i said i like calcuttas never tore one up but that abu feels so good it makes me want to buy another one. I have heard they were special built with cheaper parts for walmart but like i said that is just hear say, if i thought it would hold up i would buy another one tho..
