I have not used them, however Shakespeare puts out a decent product, so they should work fine. Ecspecially if you are not sure if he will stick with it or not. He can always upgrade later.

These reels are ok for the money. I have sold several of them to customers. We sell the SKP4100 for $34.99 each. This has the clicker on it. has anyone ever used a shakespear skp 2000c baitcaster i know there cheap but im mentoring a 16 year old boy and i bought 2 of them at walmart for 40.00 a piece and put them on 9 ft glow stixs it all i could afford right now not knowing if he will stick to it or not any info would be appreciated.

my buddy got 1 from castaway i think he gave it to me and i used it for channel cat fishing. i like them but not for me. i like fishing far out and i dont think they hold enough line like my c3's do. but they are great for fishing close to the bank and ive got a couple nice blues on it and brings the fish in just fine. i sold it and a 10ft nitestick for $65 to i boy who only had 1 6ft openbail and he slamed a 42 do to getting farther out and thanked me for selling it to him.

i have one of those reels and i think the only downfall to these reels is the volume of the bait clicker if theres a lot of background noise they are hard to hear gotta make sure you keep a sharp eye on your bobbers cause it seems every time i go to turn around and do somethin i get a down on it and i cant hear the clicker so when i turn around and look at the water im missin a glowstick

Wondering if I could get some advice on what would be a good reel and rod set up. Just started fishing last month and having to borrow a friends set up. Would like to know what would be good rod and reel set up. Would like have it set up to where I could go for any kind of fish whether big, medium, or small.
