i am wanting a couple of new rods for just channel cats, the two rods i am looking at are the 8' st croix triumph surf and the 8' tica dolphin, both rods have a 1/2-2 ounce rating but the tica's line rating is 6-17 while the triumph is 8-17, which of these two rods would you guys suggest going with ? thanks for the help

i cant decide between a 8' and 9' rod, which do you guys think would be best for channels, the lakes i fish really dont require long casts, so would a 9' benefit me ? thanks

go with St.Croix its a better rod , about the length how far are you casting? if you fish different places a longer rod would be nice too if you fish paylakes with bigger fish in them, hook a nice blue cat channel fishing and you'd be glad you had a little longer rod

i have longer rods for blues and shovels, but a couple of lakes i fish have only farm raised channels in them, and for the most part i dont cast more then 40-50 feet in them because the lakes are very small
