A lot of the guys in this area use spinning rods and baitcast reels, saying they can cast farther with the spinning rods, what do you all think

they like that first real big eyelet on the spinning rod, My emcast has a real big eyelet on it and I cast with the best of them. I like fishing pretty close to the bank but if I want to get out there I can. Seems like if you are useing a spinning rod it was desighned to fight a fish forward not backward. I don't know thow.

i have fished spinning rods my whole life - about 3 months ago i bought the 11'1 emcast rods with abu baitcasting reels - note that i didn't even know how to use a baitcast reel - someone had to show me - after some practice I can cast a lot farther with the baitcast reels.

my 11' Ocean Masters are spinning, yeah i bought them for the big eyelets so they wouldn't mess my stops up and casting, mine cast awesome i got a 6500 big game series with no levelwind on one and that combination can dang near outcast everything i got

I have bigger eyes on the rod I own but they are considered casting rods not spinning. The Gloomis rod I have has a big eye to start with but its a 12ftr with a bunch of eyes on it. I can cast that one about the farthest but my 10ft ocean master with littler eyes goes the distance! I believe at least for me the stiffer the rod the better the cast. nothin really to do with eye size. Length and the reel helps a lot too. Top of the line rigging is expensive but well worth the bang for the buck!
