rain was slow and cold drizzle most of the night around 10pm we gave it shot. @ big reds we got some bait and walked to the far end of the lake i hooked a 8 inch crappie in the back set the 6600 a little tight ran it about 5' deep flipped it in after about 30 minutes with no bite and my time running short it set the stopper around 10' and started a slow retrieve around the cattails i covered the hole far end for 20 minutes chris said it was about time to go i made one more cast to the middle and trolled back to the shore as the bait got near to shore maybe 10 feet out i stopped to talk to chris and a fish nailed the 8" crappie I all most lost my new 6600 on this rainy night the fish made a hard run for the middle of the lake I turned his head with one good pump from my eagle claw 10' rod pleased with the hook set i was sure the gamakatsu 6/0 had done its job the fight was on the fish made 3 more runs up and down the bank about 20 yards out dont you just love the little glow of a 10" float and a light stick just under the water cruzin by up and down the bank Chris said hay man you need the net i replied please come down well it was fun the fish was a flat head real fat dark mottled patern with a white well hung round GUT. Chris said about 25 maybe 26# i dont think i ever caught a shovlehead this small and that heavy in my life i mean real fat and thick i'm over 6' tall and have big hands I was unable to touch my finger tips together around its tail NICE FISH. THANKS AGAIN CHRIS!

Sounds like it was a nice fish.I've fished there two times now and i got fish both times. All the fish has been nice and fat and but up a good fight.I was hitting them on small Crappies. Live and heads. But I did hit the 40 lber. on a big bluegill. I'll be back.
