the main reason the emcasts break are because of people swinging as hard as they possibly can and running at full speed at the same time this puts alot of stress on the rod. if you dont set the hook like your tryin to rip the fish in half and dont throw these poles around they are very good rods and wont break on you.

Setting the hook on a fish all comes down to the basics of fishing. I sharpen my hooks before every trip, takes about 5 minutes. By the time I am done with them they can easily penetrate my thumb nail ( Found that out the hard way). With a sharp hook you don't have to try and rip the fish in half with the hook set. Just a medium swing and you should penetrate the bone.

i like my graphite/fiberglass composite rods the best out of all my rods..for only $30 each!!! ;D STILSTAR CAT MASTERS 10 FOOTERS M/H ACTION they are white and ez to see..toughness you can count on and the back bone of graphite..you can bang them around some.. em casts break because they are made of 99% graphite...if you bang them around they get week spots in them...hair line cracks you cant see..en cast are better rods but be careful the way you handle them.as with any hi buck graphite rod.. I also have a 8foot/1piece Shoremaster boat rod solid fiberglass rod..IT is very well made..Shoremaster Rods are really nice fiberglass rods and cheep...only thing i don't like about them is there black....hard to find in the dark... don't forget BEEF STICKS there made of fiberglass and work great for a lot of cat fisherman on here...

yea i have 2 beefsticks also.. its jus that any more everyone tries to rip the fish in half like they said and thats what causes the graphite rods to break.. and the better u take care of any thing the longer it will last..
