Has anyone ever had any luck on any store bought baits, like the baby shad you see at Walmart or the shiners that come in a little jar? I have had luck with Catfish Charles Blood Bait when channel cat fishing but thats about it.

no i don't buy that stuff anymore even the Gulp! catfish bait i haven't really done any good with, i've caught channels on stink bait like you were sayin but never did really good with any of them, i use to buy the Little Stinker Catalpa paste in a tube and use it in Hamburger and Wheaties and use to do real good with that when i fished Bill's Trout Lake, or when i use to "live there", but i've tried that stuff and others at other lakes with no success just to use out of curiousity cuz a buddy would have some with him

When I had nothing else I used some as a kid. caught a few small channels from a small pond, but it took forever for a bite.
