As for catching blues in the winter, shad and skippies are your got to's obviously. But You really need a boat. Ive done ok at aberdeen catching channels and a flatty here or there. But Blue cats dont like to come out of the main river. I have caught a lot of them at the mouth about 50 yards out into the river. If you have a boat, your in luck. Catfish school up in deep holes with cover and baitfih in the cold. So when you mark them on your finder. You dont have to move. Just hope they bite that day. I've seen lots of 50's and 60's pulled out of the Ohio and Missisippi when it was snowing. Ohio DNR is accepting blue catfish as a sportfish now. So if you get one over 57.2 pounds call the Game warden!!! You got the new record!!!!
