Went to fat cats today to check it out and see what was going on. I talked to the owner for a few hours and a few people fishing.
He bought the place 3 yrs ago and started to stock it. Stocked 60K pounds of blues and shovles the first year. around 20k 2nd year and about 8k so far this year.
Can catch up to 70lbs blues a lot of 30+ caught every day. I was there for about an hour and seen 20+ fish caught. thats with a storm pushing in. Cpl of fishermen said they have on several times fished 6 hour tickets and caught over 100 fish from 10-60 lbs in that time. Fish bite on everything here. very few chanel cats in here. he dont like them.
owner said that if you call before you come he will tell you how the fish are biting and any trends like fish on from 6am-noon then nothing or anything like that.
right now has a small very small baite box well call it till next weekend. might be good idea to bring your own. but he does have stuff. R and R baite shop in in downtown columbus about 15 mins form the lake if you want to get baite up here.
His fish are all clean and healthy. i seen hundreds of pics of peoples catches and not 1 of them had marks on them.
Some lake rules.
No glass of any kind allowed.
No ubber drunks.
No crowding out. you must stay at least 10 foot from next guy unless its your buddy or what not. if you are caught crossing people or crowding out you will be remmoved and asked not to come back. No No loud music
No stainless hooks and leaders.
All fish must be hooked in the mouth. No snags will count.
This is what i like about the lake. When you catch a fish you bring it to shore. Pull out the hook and put it back in the net. then put the net back into the lake. Yell out FISH ON. And they will come to you and weight it. They do not want you to cary the fish to the baite house. this greatly reduces the chance of harming the fish. This is also why his 30lbs fish fight like 60lbs fish. Watch a guy hook one. It bent his 12foot in 1/2. thought he had a 70+ fight on. When he got ti up it weighted 34 lbs. i was blown away.
Cost..
$15. for 12 hour
$10. for 6 hours.
$4, for extra pole
This will get you into all pots.
