Been at cedar uh couple uh times this winter on the warmer days trying to get uh big blue but i cant get a thing going, i got 3 blues from the 12-15 pound range im lookin for that winter monster, any info please.. what bait, depth, anything else??? i been usin shad heads, boston mackrel, pretty much anything dead with a soft body... Help...! Thanks guys...!

You have to remember that it is February and the water temps are still in the mid 30s. I don't care who you are, you are not going to consistently catch big blues in this weather, unless you are river fishing. You may catch a few here and there, but thats about it until the water gets closer to the 50 degree mark.

Right now your not allowed to be cat fishing at Cedar anyways. There have been people up there snagging them so the put a stop to it. But when March and April come around keep trying those baits. You should be able to catch one sooner or later.

Another thing to keep in mind is Monica (owner) takes her fish very serious and you don't want to get banded from the lake before the season even starts.
If she says No Cat fishing she means it.......

Yeah I'm with you Randy....Fishing doesn't get good until May anyways. No reason to go out and freeze and not catch fish.

i dont know ive caught alot of fish in the winter time at cozy dale they school up so you can catch them all day last year one day we caught 35 fish in one little spot

how many of them where snaged alot of the times in the winter you dont mean to snag them but they barely hit and when you jerk alot of the time they have already let go so you in up snaging them. at least that is has happened to me the few times i have paylaked in the winter for every 3 i caught two would be foul hooked.

we probally snagged 5 that day but there has been days where all we do is snag them and hate to do that but you cant help it

we probally snagged 5 that day but there has been days where all we do is snag them and hate to do that but you cant help itDon't fish for them ! It's very hard on the fish dragging them up through that colder water and then into the cold air.......
