i agree, using curled chubs works wonders along with cut bait like shad, skip, gill heads etc.

blue like fresh bait period. if your bait is dead for 2 hours on ice it is no longer fresh end of story your best bait is live fish then slab it cut it step on it what ever just keep it alive then kill it to fish with.

I catch shad in the winter/spring time and freeze them to use through the summer and catch just as many fish on that as I do "fresh" bait.

FISH WILL EAT FROZEN DEAD FOOD ITS TRUE. BUT JUST TRY IT SOME TIME AND SEE IF YOU DON'T CATCH MORE AND LARGER FISH WITH FRESH DEAD BAIT. AT LEAST I DO. IN THE EARLY SPRING ALMOST ALL FISH WILL EAT WINTER KILL OFF DEAD FISH EVAN A MUSKIE WILL. BUT I HAVE NEVER CAUGHT A MUSKIE OTHER THEN EARLY SPRING ON A DEAD BAIT LET ALONE A FROZEN ONE BLUES ARE THE SAME.

i will only use cut shad or skipjack 4 big blues. If u have a boat u might want to try planner bobbers they work great! i almost always fish for blues in between 8 and 12 ft.

Blues are the same as muskie? Give me a break. I have caught TONS of blues all year long on my trot-lines on year old frozen shad. All the way up to 100+ lbs.

ive used frozen shad and fresh shad side by side and havent been able to tell the difference in which one got more fish.... im not saying fresh shad isnt better sometimes but 90% of the time it will produce just the same amount of fish as frozen. just my opinion.

I have caught blues and I have caught muskies, and they are two completly different fish, so you really can't compare them.
I either catch my blues on live bait or dead bait, if its live its obviously fresh, if its dead it could be fresh or it might be old, either way it catches fish all the same.

well if blues are the same as muskies then i am no longer gonna catch bait, just gonna bring some Big Mepps Inlines and Pikie minnows, j/k i like fresh shad better for blues, but haven't really noticed much difference between frozen or fresh
