Back in the 80's I was at OK lake which is now EZ and watched a guy throw out a 14" sucker chub. After his cast his float never came up, he waited a few seconds then let go with a big paylake jerk and ran halfway down the hill towards the house. Turned out to be a very small shovel with 2" of the chubs tail sticking out of its mouth. That was one p*$$ed off dude. It was funny to watch.

In my opinion shovelheads seem to hit on medium to larger baits, but when you catch a big blue it is on a tiny peice of bait, but thats just my opinion

i caught my biggest fish on a chub head that was no bigger than the end of my thumb. seems like a lot of the guys at our lake do their best on small bait.

When I go bait fishing I do not even keep big bluegills. I throw them back.
