I picked up an old chest freezer to use as a bait holding tank. I could use any tips and ideas that you guys have. My two biggest concerns are temperature and aeration. I don't have a basement and can't put the thing in the house. I'm worried that it will get too hot in my shed. Can the cooling system in the freezer be used (its the kind where the sides get cold, it doesn't blow any cold air inside of the unit)? What the best filtration/aeration method?

i use for the house a old watering tank 80 gal.. i think and it sits right on the floor in the garage, that keeps it cool great. I have 2 air pumps and a as well a aquar.. filter for a 110 gal. tank, with a under gravel filter in mine to keep the water cleaned out and also use, they are called start right tabs for aquar.. and no more algee tabs, they work great when you are not fishing and put them in tank at home.. when im fishing i as well use the tabs it stablizes the water so the bait dont get shocked.. WORKS VERY WELL

also use, they are called start right tabs for aquar.. I also use these after changing the water in my bait tanks. It takes out all the chlorine and stuff like that out of the water.

Mike i have one that is about 55 gallons or so. The only thing i use for aeration is a bubbler that has two hoses coming from it. I can hold up to about 3 dozen fish in it. Don't know about using the actual freezer to keep it cool, but it might work.

Well, I just set this thing up under a tree next to my shed. Hope it works well. I had to get my mobile tank out of my truck. My bait has been going everywhere with me for the past few days. I'm just going to use a bubbler with an airstone and bait saver.

i wonder if a small swimmingpool pump would work if it has a sand filter that might be realy good. hole saw a hole and put the filter line in the side it would circulate the water and aeriate the water you see these pumps in yard sales every were . also great light for fishing use a solar powerd yard light like you put by your side walk not very bright but realy work well no batterys or fuel and people dont complain that they are to bright'
