First off never use tap water unless you use a conditioner to take out the chlorine and stuff out of the water, or you can just fill up you tank a couple of days before you go and the water should be fine by then.
If you are having problems, you can try the Shad Keeper or just non-iodize salt. This is used to keep the shad from loosing there slim and scales.
If you notice the water getting real foamy just add a small amount of non-dairy coffee creamer to the water. It will get rid of the foam with a quickness.
The most important thing is the type of bait tank you have. If you can find an oval tank like Cedar Lake has up at the bait house to put your fish in to get weighed, that would be your best bet. If you cant get one like that try a 55 gallon drum or something along those lines. Make sure it is round or oval because shad swim in circles.
Depending on the tank you get, i would either try a bilge pump or just a bubbler pump. Also keep in mind that you shouldn't over fill your tank with shad.
Hope this helps everyone.

thanks alsept i seen the pic of your barrel tank id like to make something like that only on a smaller car fitting basis. like maybe 20-30gal. ive done enough research i know what to add to the water and stuff like that i just need to build the tank. and most importantly find a good filtering system.
