Has any one ever used Rainbow trout for bait? The DNR is stocking our ponds at the park this Friday Oct 12. I was thinking trout would make good cut bait. They have dark red meat and 10 to 12 inches long. Eyman Park Fayette County.

I have had more luck using them live than dead. If trying to keep them alive hit them with some really cold water and plenty of air.

I'd like to keep them alive but they die fast. I'll try and keep them in the bait tank over night. If they die I will just put them on ice and fish cut bait. Thanks Mike

i always catch them in the fall when they stock them in ponds and freeze them and use them as cutbait in the spring the bluecats love them. only caught 3 or 4 shovels on them. they make good channel cat bait to.

You have to fish for them. I would try Cedar or Sherrys

out off of rt4 in morrain, take rt4 north if you coming up from say cinci way and there will be a big wooded sign on the right, turn right after the sign and its about 2 miles up on the right. If you go you want to fish the smaller ponds on the left hand side. You cant see them till you get to the parking lots. I always fish the 3rd pond back around the right hand side.. i cant remember the name of the road its on. look out metro parks and it should give the rd name..
