I'd use your certificates and get either two Abu Garcia 6500C3s or two Abu Garcia 6500C4s. I like the C4s better, but the C3s are great and cost a little less. Then I would get two 10' Nite Stick Pro rods. This may cost a little more than $200, but thats what I would get. If you want to get cheaper rods, you can get the yellow Eagle Claw 10' rods for $25-$35 depending on where you shop.

Surefoot is right about the 6500 series reels, but when choosing reels make sure you get a low speed reel like 5.3:1 gear ratio or something. Stay away from the reels with the 6.3:1 gear ratios, they will get destroyed. When it comes to a rod, Bass Pro came out with the new catmaxx rods. They are a little lighter than the old ones and will cost about $60 for one.
*Keep this in mind when buying a new setup. If your planning on having it as a trolling rod i would go with an eleven footer for a better hook set rather than a ten footer.

I would buy the reels at bass pro, but would buy the rods at cedar, cozy sherry's , or some other lake. Personally I believe the bass pro shop really doesn't have a good selection on rods for catching big cats. They should put in a Pro Catfish section.

Have you been to a store ? The one in Cincy has a really nice catfishing section, much bigger than a couple years ago.

I've been to the store many times, besides the shad keep and a couple reels they do not meet my standards................ unless it's hunting gear, probally the only reason i still make the long haul up there is my boy loves the tank they have set up, and I like to check the prices on their guns......................................they have 20+ isles for bass fishing and 1 for cats!

Buy the new 6500C3 reels and get $15 mail in rebate for them. Good reels for the money.
