If i were you i would shop around before buying one. Those nets can be pretty costly.

All you need is a landing net rated for atleast 40-50 lbs. Mine has the telescopic handle, which comes in handy with steep banks or when I'm fishing by myself. I think I paid only $30-$35 for it last year at Dicks sporting goods. I looked for them on their website but none are listed, best to call the store before you go. As far as the diameter, I've never measured it, but if I had to guess it's 48 in x36 in. The bigger the ring is the better. The deeper the net the easier to keep the fish from thrashing about. Just wrap em up and carry it up to be weighed. I've seen owners of lakes kick people out for not having a net and carrying the fish up barehanded. I've also seen big fish dropped because someone used a net that was to small and the netting broke. Becareful with their fish, it's how they make their money. They could make you pay for the fish if you killed it, by improperly handling it.

The bigger the net, the better. Some Meijer stores sell surf nets and most paylakes sell them too. I've forgotten my net on a few occasions...

catman blues sells decent nets for 26.50. He sells him cheap so anyone can afford them because he doesnt want anything to happen to his fish. Cant blame him though

Larry at Castaway Lakes has some very nice nets at multiple sizes and his prices are comparable as well.
I like to buy my fishing gear from the paylakes I fish, just another way to support the paylakes.

The Ed Cumings Big cat nets are the best. They have an octagonal handle and heavy duty net. We have put some big fish in these. The biggest we put in one is 75 lb and it held just fine. The best thing is that the net itself is replaceable if you ever put a hole in it. Larry at Castaway Lakes has some very nice nets at multiple sizes and his prices are comparable as well.
