If your using clickers with circles, then thats what your doing wrong. Engage the reel, put the rod in a secure holder, set the drag at where you want it to be when fighting a fish, and wait for the rod to bend over and stay there before you pick it up. Don't set the hook. Just start reeling. Circle hooks will not work if you try to set the hook. I FOUND THIS ON THE NET....I JUST GOT SOME CIRCLE HOOKS.... THIS DIDN'T SOUND GOOD AT ALL!!!!!!!! IS THIS TRUE? ??

I'am with you on that Randy. I don't use the circle hooks. Setting the hook is one of the best parts of fishing. You get a good run and you set the hook and get turned around thats when you know you got a good one.

yeah jsut cant see useing them if all you want to do is grab your rod and start reelin, i got to be able to set that hook, like you said thats 1/2 the fun of catching the fish.. I know some dont need to use it though, my step dad is in a wheel chair and cant quite get a good jerk going so he use's them, i can see that..

Circle hooks are good in different application. Fishing from a boat, they are great hooks, pay lake fishing, not so much. I use Gama 4 x strong in 7/0 and 8/0 for big baits and Gama octopus 2-4/0 for smaller bait
