I have an Okuma EVx 12' foot rod with an 6500CT Mag Elite (custom built) and i can cast 150 hundred yards. The guy who built my reel for me can get over 700 feet with my reel.
I was using 30 lb test Grand Slam line with a 2 oz sinker. Another guy tried to cast my reel and he burnt the skin off of his thumb from the spool turning so fast.
Next year I will be having a casting competition.

The reel I have has about $300.00 in it. I am coming out with our own line of custom built high performance reels next year. We are using Abu Garcia reels and changing them to dual ball bearing line guide system with ceramic line pawl, Ceramic Abec 5 bearings, Smooth Drag Carbontex drags, Stainless Steel Drag plates. This upgrade to a reel will be about $100.00. They will be a 6 ball bearing reel. 700 feet how much money you got in that reel?? is that grand slam line like power pro??? thats 1 long cast got any line left on your reel?? the kind of cast i would love to make!!!!!!!!!!

I can cast about 300' with my 10' ugly Tica spinning reel with 60lb line. But only about 150' and keep the bait on.

yea i agree thats one hell of a cast, most lakes you dont/wont even need to cast that far out.. I try to learn the lake by watching others and then just go for the gustooo and try my own.. Got to learn a new lake somehow right.. Fish it a few time and go from there.. No reason t have to cast that far. Unless you are in the ocean.. Hell cozy big lake isnt that far to get t o the middle i can put a 6-8 inch chub to the middle, thats good enough for me..

now i could prob.. do that with my Corsairs i use the thrill 8in with 2 oz. weight which prob. works out to about the same.. But like i said with bait no reason to get that far out, ive caught just as many fish 20 the 50 ft off the bank as i have out in the middle, or there abouts anyway..
