I want to know what kind of improvements should be made to Abu Garcia Reels? I will be building a new upgraded Abu Garcia reel using their reels with our own after market parts. This reel will be better, smoother and cast farther than any Abu Garcia reel you have ever used.
I have been building a few for surf fishing on the east coast on CT frames with mag kits. We have found a way to keep the clicker with a knobby style magnetic controlled spool. It will be SUPER FAST! Now it is time to design some for the pay lakers and striper fisherman on the river.
I will be looking for a couple of guys to try these out and give me your feedback on them.
So what do you want out of a reel?

If you are looking for someone to test them out i would love to. You know i fish a lot, and I know what I am doing, let me know.
But if i where you i would try to make the real lighter. If it wasn't for my light rods my arms would be dead by the end of the day. Only thing i could think of its to make it out of Magnesium or something but I'm sure that would up the price quite a bit. Also get rid of the plastic gears on the clicker side. I don't understand why the have the worm gear(metal) moving the clicker gear(plastic) on my c3.

I think Larry (owner of Castaway lakes) is looking for advice on upgrades to the already existing Abu's.........Like the plastic gear on the clicker. I could be wrong though. Getting ready to take all 3 of my C4's to him for a good scrubin and possibly some upgrades. I'm preaty sure he will do upgrades on used reels. www.castawaylakes.com/AbuGarciaUpgrades.htmlCheck him out, super nice guy !

I can make these lighter. My guys are using them on the east coast to fish with but costing somewhere between $400.00 and $600.00 per reel. They make a 1 piece CNC machined Aluminum frame for them. If you are looking for someone to test them out i would love to. You know i fish a lot, and I know what I am doing, let me know. But if i where you i would try to make the real lighter. Well if you can post some pics of the stuff you do to the reel, and of the finished product.
