I just finished my first fish trap. .It is 14 inches square by 28 inches long. Any ideas on what type of bait to put in it? And when can you start using them?

well when i go i useully are fishing for them but i do through a trap out as well. I just put mine either above or below the spot im fishing.. For chubs well just look for them in the creek and put it there. i use mine alot in the current/swift water for the mollets/white suckers in a few creeks i go to in germantown..

Flatasurus, let me look into that and I will get back to you. The one I built took me about 4 hours. If I can cut that in half. I might be bale to help you out. I will send you a personal message if I am able to assist.

I ran into a guy this weekend. He went nuts when he seen the trap I built. I asked him what bait was good for the trap. He said that crackers and bread work well, but the disolve to quickly. I suggested using a twinkie. He said they dont fall apart until they are being picked at. I will have to try all of these options and see what works best. Does anyone know a good time to start puttings traps out? Spring, Summer, etc?
