Fishing lake celebrates one year of family activities under DearwesterBy Danyrae Lockwood Staff Writer Thursday, March 29, 2007 Lake EZ in the Blanchester area is celebrating its one-year anniversary under new ownership. Tim Dearwester, a businessman who owns several area mobile home communities and a storage unit facility, bought the lake nearly a year ago because he loved fishing. "The excitement you see in the children when they catch fish, it lights up a young person's face up from ear to ear," he said. There is a live bait and tackle shop, snack shop and basic fishing lessons onsite, giving families all they need for a nature outing. Free camping also is available for one night or for an entire week, adding a family activity that is affordable. There is no electric hookups on the campsite, but fire rings are available to grill out. "If you go to the Reds game or Kings Island, it's so expensive and the experience is more stressful than enjoyable," Dearwester said. "This is something you can take the kids to within limits and enjoy quality time." Lake EZ also offers group discounts for more than 10 people and can cater to any group from churches to companies. Fishing tournaments currently are being planned, and this summer, Lake EZ will start a children's tournament in a lake that's rejuvenated each year with new fish — guaranteeing a catch. "We go to great lengths that, when people come out, it's a great experience," Dearwester said. Contact this reporter at (513) 696-4545 or dlockwood@coxohio.com. Article
